Getting Around
Once in Porto, traveling around the city is easy. Below are some helpful tips for navigating the city.
-
Walking is, in our opinion, the best way to see the city. However, steep winding walkways can be a challenge for some guests.
If you are planning to explore the city by foot, here are some things to know:Wear comfortable shoes!
Start Uptown
The entire city slopes steeply uphill on either side of the river
Whenever possible, start your excursions at your furthest point from the river, and work your way downhill
Downtown, along the river, is relatively flat with plenty of food, shops, and nightlife to explore
Plan your route
a 15 minute walk might feel like a marathon uphill

Taxis are available, but not reliable. NOT RECOMMENDED
Rideshare Apps are very reasonably priced and reliable
Uber is available but, we recommend downloading BOLT before your trip
BOLT works the same but it has better prices and availability
